Press Release: C.O.W.S Leaders Gather in Oregon to Support Property Rights.

Western States Leaders Gather in Oregon to Support Property Rights and Help Restore rural America.

For Immediate Distribution – Jan 26th, 2016

Fact Finding Mission to Harney County
Legislators and grassroots leaders from the Coalition of Western States (C.O.W.S.) traveled to Harney County Oregon last week, and met with the Harney County Under Sheriff, the County Judge, District Attorney, and a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, at the Courthouse in Burns and later protest leaders at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, regarding the ongoing standoff and the continuing complaints about Bureau of Land Management’s treatment of local ranchers.

During the visit members of the Coalition asked and were assured several times by officials that no violent action was intended against the protesters at the refuge and that a peaceful resolution was sought by all, including specifically the Federal Government. Also, as part of the visit Coalition members were presented with evidence of ongoing BLM abuse of Harney County Ranchers. Members of the Coalition of Western States are still compiling information as part of its fact-finding mission.

Coalition Training in Harney County
Constitutional attorney KrisAnne Hall also traveled to Burns, Oregon, last week to conduct educational community meetings on the Constitution, property rights, and how Harney County citizens can begin pushing back against overreach.

More than three hundred citizens attended each of the presentations during the 2-day community event. County Judge and commissioner, Steven E. Grasty, unsuccessfully attempted to prevent the use of public buildings for these community educational events despite the fact that hundreds of similar presentations have been conducted literally all over the country with the support of local elected officials.

The Coalition of Western States has also facilitated follow up training on how citizens can become active participants in their local government. This training will be presented by the Center for Self-Governance a well-respected national organization and has been scheduled for Jan 30th in Burns. The venue is still to be determined because Judge Grasty has stated he will deny any follow up meetings or training the use of public buildings. Coalition of Western States will be reviewing the remedies available to overcome Judge Grasty’s blatant and arbitrary disregard of the Rights of the people of Harney County, Oregon.

The Coalition of Western States condemns in the strongest possible terms the bizarre and unprecedented attempt by Judge Grasty to silence citizens who want to learn about the Constitution and property rights. It is unconscionable that his continued denial of public facilities to the taxpaying citizens of Harney County will force the elderly and disabled to either not attend future presentations and gatherings or attend in venues without heat. Such discrimination against the elderly and disabled should never be tolerated.

Ranchers Organize Against the BLM
Ranchers from Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oregon are organizing against BLM abuse and are gathering to sign agreements to cancel contracts with the BLM and demand that the land now controlled by the Federal Government be transferred to the States as was originally intended by the Constitution and various state compacts, followed by the Federal Government up until it reached the western United States.

COWS stands with the ranchers the are organizing against BLM abuse and is researching further what peaceful actions can be taken to restore property rights, constitutional public land management, and Harney County and communities across the Nation.

“The Federal Government has created this situation in the West. The Forest Service and BLM in particular have a long history of fraud and abuse. Together at the local and state level the Coalition of Western States we will put the Federal Government back into its constitutionally designed box and unshackle the spirit of rural America.” – said WA State Representative and Chair, Matthew Shea in statement Tuesday.

The Coalition of Western States represents over 50 legislators, elected delegates and grassroots leaders predominantly in the Western United States dedicated to stopping government overreach. – COWS and it’s members from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Montana, New Mexico stand ready to oppose continued federal overreach and abuse, support the rule of law and restore management of public lands to the States where it Constitutionally belongs.

  1. Yes, yes, yes. We need the same informational lectures for the people in Malheur County, Oregon.

  2. With your efforts, LaVoy Finicum will not die in vain and be forgotten. His memory and his sacrifice will light the way for others to stand up to tyranny, which has for too long gone unchallenged. His courage will inspire others and his actions have served to open the discussion on freedom and how to make that work.

  3. I support the Militia and all Patriots who defy the tyrannical government under which we have suffered these past seven years. I support them in arresting those responsible for the murder of fellow Patriot, Robert LaVoy Finicum – an American, a friend, husband and father. The FBI sent in an Overkill Force to quell the peaceful occupation of a WILDLIFE REFUGE, which did OT interfere with the Business of the Land. These American citizens were merely demanding fairness from the overzealous, over-reaching powers of the BLM. Because of his egregious conflicts of interest in the handling of this matter, I demand the resignation of Sheriff Ward, appointed by a judge whose brother is an agent of the BLM and who, himself, is a former BLM agent. I would also like to point out that Obama’s paid thugs, using the moniker ‘FBI,’ ambushed the Christian Militia in Michigan seven years ago just as they ambushed Mr. Finicum on January 26th, BUT they have made NO MOVE whatsoever to take down the 23-30 Jihad camps on American soil, even though the Jihadists are training to kill Americans. I would point out that the actions of the FBI since the current president was elected are those of an Enemy of the American People, and I demand they step down and OUT of this case before they murder another Patriot. God save America from such as these and give her back to the Patriots who made her safe, made her great and made her Free. ABOLISH the BLM; it is THAT agency that has the most blood on it’s hands.

  4. I applaud you for the work you are doing. I hope you are not being fooled by the Convention of States with their call for an Article V Constitution Convention. If they get this on we America will no doubt loose the Constitution as we know it. The Ranchers will have no ability to reign in the Government. I have attached a link from “The New American” magazine to an article “Save the Constitution” The New American Magazine has printed articles on the Bundy’s fight with the BLM and are now covering the events in Oregon.
I Hope you will take a moment to review this article. If I may be of further help regarding the Constitution please let me know.
We in Nevada stopped the call for an Article V Con Con at the last legislature.

  5. Ready to join with these hard working, America loving land owners. I will stand with you, protect you and your land. It will however cost you $1.00 cash. I live in Las Vegas NV and will travel.

  6. I would like to be informed of the events or happenings. I am not a rancher, just a very concerned citizen. Best of luck to you all.

  7. Thank you to all who are responsible for doing this. I knew this needed to happen but I didn’t know how to do it. If you need any help from me or my husband we would like to be able to help out somehow.

  8. Thank you so much for you guys helping with this. We ranced for several years and had issues with the BLM. We also do fire suppression and have had them outright lie to us so that they could get us to sign bids so that we could even work. If my husband and I can help please let us know and we will do what we can thank you

  9. Cannot think of anything better to say than what our forefathers said, and we are where they were, now.

“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
    ― Benjamin Franklin

“May our land be a land of liberty, the seat of virtue, the asylum of the oppressed, a name and a praise in the whole Earth, until the last shock of time shall bury the empires of the whole world in one common undistinguished ruin!”
    ― Joseph Warren

“Nevertheless, to the persecution and tyranny of his cruel ministry we will not tamely submit — appealing to Heaven for the justice of our cause, we determine to die or be free.”
    ― Joseph Warren

  10. The federal government is using this incident to inctease its power over landholders and ranchers. The government legitimize its use of force by declaring ranchers and land holders actions as breaking feferal laws or as acts of rebellion against this country.

  11. We are appealing the BLM RMO which is taking of a 130 year private road, closure of our emergency evacuation route and closure of our historic access to our private patented land to the IBLA. There was a man made fire on the road 8 days after I sent the appeal
